10 Ways to Save Money on Your Wedding (Without Compromising Your Dream Day!)

Hi, I’m Kathryn!

If you’ve found your way here, chances are you’re eithernewly engaged (congratulations! 🥂) or you’re right in the middle of planning your wedding.

I look after all of our social media here at the boutique, so I spend my days chatting to brides, answering messages, sharing wedding inspiration and hearing all about your plans. One thing I hear all the time is…

“I can’t believe how expensive weddings are!”

Honestly? I completely get it.

From the venue and photographer to flowers, stationery and your dream dress, it can feel like your budget disappears before you’ve even started.

But here’s the thing…

A beautiful wedding doesn’t have to cost a fortune.

Every week we meet brides who are creating incredible weddings while being really smart with their budget, so I thought I’d share some of my favourite money-saving tips with you.

Hopefully they’ll help you too!

1. Choose a Venue That Works for Your Budget

Your venue will probably be your biggest expense, so it’s worth doing plenty of research before you book.

Luckily, we have some beautiful budget-friendly wedding venues in the West Midlands. Places like Hornton Grange, Pendrell Hall and Redhouse Barn all offer different packages throughout the year, and many venues have fantastic discounts for weekday or off-peak weddings.

My biggest tip?

Always ask if they have late availability offers—you never know what savings might be available.

2. Buy Your Wedding Dress from a Bridal Outlet

I couldn’t write this blog without mentioning this one!

One conversation I have almost every single week goes something like this…

Bride: “I love designer dresses but they’re way out of my budget.”

Then she tries one on…

Looks in the mirror…

Falls in love…

And discovers it’s hundreds—sometimes thousands—less than she expected.

That’s exactly why Lisa opened our boutique.

We specialise in designer wedding dresses at outlet prices, with most of our gowns priced between £699 and £899.

They’re genuine designer dresses, just without the designer price tag.

Watching brides realise they can afford the dress they’ve been dreaming about is honestly one of my favourite parts of the job.

3. Keep Your Guest List Personal

This one isn’t always easy.

But every extra guest means another meal, another chair, another favour and another drink.

Instead of inviting everyone you’ve ever met, think about the people you genuinely couldn’t imagine celebrating without.

Some of the loveliest weddings I’ve seen have actually been the smallest.

4. Think About a Midweek Wedding

Saturday weddings are always popular, but they’re usually the most expensive too.

If you’re flexible, many venues and suppliers offer fantastic discounts for weekday weddings.

The savings can be much bigger than you’d expect.

5. Let Your Flowers Do Double Duty

Here’s a simple one.

Ask your florist if your ceremony flowers can be moved into your reception afterwards.

Your aisle arrangements can become centrepieces, and your ceremony backdrop can often be reused behind your top table.

It’s such an easy way to get more from your budget.

6. Go Digital Where You Can

Printed invitations are beautiful, but they’re not essential.

Lots of couples now send digital save-the-dates or invitations, saving money on printing and postage while making RSVPs much easier to manage.

7. Keep Favours Simple

I honestly can’t remember most of the wedding favours I’ve ever received!

Instead of spending lots of money, think about something edible, homemade or meaningful.

Guests usually remember the thought far more than the cost.

8. Hire Instead of Buy

From neon signs and sweet carts to easels, post boxes and décor, so many items can be hired instead of bought.

It’s cheaper, easier and means you don’t end up wondering where to store everything after the wedding!

9. Spend More on What Matters Most to You

Every couple is different.

For some it’s incredible photography.

For others it’s amazing food.

And for lots of our brides…

It’s always been the dress.

Whatever means the most to you, don’t be afraid to make that your priority.

You don’t have to spend equally on every part of your wedding.

10. Remember What Your Wedding Is Really About

Pinterest is wonderful.

Instagram is inspiring.

But they can also make you feel like you need everything.

The truth?

The best weddings aren’t the most expensive ones.

They’re the ones filled with laughter, happy tears and people you love. That’s what everyone remembers.

💕 A Little Note from Kathryn

Before you go, I just wanted to say thank you for stopping by and reading my blog.

Wedding planning can feel exciting one minute and completely overwhelming the next, but I promise you’re not alone. Every single week I chat to brides who are trying to juggle budgets, Pinterest boards, family opinions and everything else that comes with planning such a big day.

One of the reasons we wanted to start this blog is because I hope it becomes more than just a blog about wedding dresses.

I want it to be a place where you can pick up ideas, discover amazing local suppliers, find ways to save money, and hopefully feel a little less overwhelmed along the way.

Whether you’re getting married in six months or two years, I’ll be sharing all the tips, inspiration and little nuggets of advice we pick up here in the boutique.

And who knows… maybe one day I’ll be writing about your bridal appointment too.

Until next time…

Happy wedding planning!
